No other option is as durable and hard wearing as stainless steel handrails.
A stainless steel handrail is stronger than other materials such as wood because of its comparatively higher tensile strength. It also has anti-rust properties and can withstand various weathering conditions, such as external installations exposed to hot sun and rain. Additionally, they can are essentially inert in relation to most contaminants and are easily cleaned to look like new
Stainless steel handrails are most commonly installed with a satin polished finish. The examples shown here are 50mm and 38mm diameter respectively and are the most common and complient sizes, though 32mm is another option. Grade 304 or 316 can be specified to suit location.
While the name suggests that stainless steel hanrails will not “stain”, this is not strictly true as some contaminants such as salt and other acids will cause the stainless steel to corrode and evidence tea-staining. Protective measures that can be specified for improved longevity, particularly outdoors, can include electropolishing or coating with MicroShield Stainless Steel treatment.
